Rosemary – Incense 20-30g (bundle)
- Rosemary is a natural incense used in rituals of protection and renewal. It supports energetic cleansing, clears the mind, and helps restore inner balance. Its fresh scent soothes, stimulates and inspires action.
Rosemary has long been recognised as an herb with deep spiritual properties. In Mediterranean traditions, it was used to protect homes and attract positive energy. Today, it is also used in modern cleansing practices such as smudging – ritual burning of herbs. Rosemary bundles – much like white sage – are used in spiritual ceremonies inspired by the traditions of the Indigenous peoples of North America. Rosemary smoke has a strengthening, harmonising and purifying effect – benefiting both the space and the people within it.
The aroma of freshly burning rosemary – herbal, slightly resinous, and distinctly energising – makes it easier to relax, focus, and trust one’s intuition. Rosemary incense acts like a spiritual reset – it calms emotional chaos, helps release what no longer serves us, and opens the way to positive change. It is ideal before intention setting, meditation, esoteric rituals, or simply whenever you feel the need to return to yourself.
Before you begin a smudging ritual with rosemary incense:
- Take a moment to pause, unwind, and relax. You will feel the magic of herbs most fully with a clear and open mind. This is a special moment for introspection, so do not rush through the smudging ritual.
- Approach the cleansing ritual with sincerity and respect. It is a part of Native American culture, where rituals were a way to connect with the spirit of nature, achieving full harmony in the process.
- Think about the intention that will guide you during the ritual and immerse yourself in the fragrant smoke that rises from the incense. Feel the scent of pure nature and the magic of the Indigenous peoples. Cleanse your soul, mind, and surroundings; banish bad energy, and invite all that is positive.
How to use rosemary as incense? A brief guide:
- Light one bundle of rosemary, holding it over a source of fire. Wait a few seconds for the incense to start glowing.
- Extinguish the incense by blowing out the flame or shaking it vigorously. After a moment, the incense will begin to smoulder, releasing thick, intensely fragrant smoke. While extinguishing the flame, focus on the intention that will accompany your cleansing ritual.
- Use the fragrant smoke to cleanse yourself by directing the incense from your feet to your head, and then cleanse the room, objects, or people you wish to purify. After the ritual, place the still-glowing incense in a safe location, such as a ceramic dish. After a while, the incense will extinguish on its own – at that point, you can relight it.
