Mary Rose – Chinese premium matcha tea – harmony of flavour and velvety texture 🌿🍵

Choose premium matcha by Mary Rose and transport yourself to the picturesque Chinese region of Hangzhou, famous for its centuries-old tradition of tea cultivation. This is a unique offering made from carefully selected young leaves from early spring harvests, taking place at the beginning of May. Thanks to careful selection, the infusion is characterised by extraordinary freshness and lightness. 🌿

Inside the packaging, you will find powdered green tea, without any additives. Mary Rose Matcha Premium delights with an intensely green colour, silky texture, and a perfectly balanced profile. A pleasant umami is noticeable in the infusion – it is full-bodied, smooth, and free from unpleasant, astringent bitterness. 🍵

What makes this class of tea stand out the most? Above all, its extraordinary versatility! Premium matcha is the perfect compromise between robust culinary matcha and exclusive ceremonial matcha. This makes it perfect for both peaceful, traditional rituals using just water, as well as for preparing your favourite, frothy matcha latte. It will also work perfectly as a natural addition to exquisite desserts. ✨

What is matcha tea and what makes it special? 🍃

Matcha is a finely milled green tea that stands out not only for its intense colour and deep flavour but also for the way it is consumed – the infusion is made from whole ground leaves. This means we consume them entirely, providing the body with more valuable substances, such as antioxidants, amino acids, and chlorophyll.

Premium matcha is an incredibly versatile choice and the so-called "golden mean" in the tea world. It is positioned right between the culinary and ceremonial variants. Tea leaves from spring harvests are meticulously selected, which guarantees a vivid, saturated colour and a smooth, almost velvety texture of the powder. The flavour is definitely milder and more harmonious than in the case of lower-grade teas, which means the infusion tastes wonderful when prepared in the traditional way with water. At the same time, premium matcha has such a rich character that its aroma does not disappear when combined with frothed milk or plant-based alternatives, making it a fantastic base for a creamy matcha latte. 💚

The art of brewing matcha tea – tradition and modernity 🍵

The traditional chanoyu ceremony is a beautiful, relaxing ritual that requires focus and the right accessories. However, premium matcha gives you absolute freedom of choice! Its balanced, delicate flavour will work perfectly during classic preparation with water, but you can equally well use it to create a modern matcha latte and desserts. 👨‍🍳

How to prepare matcha traditionally in 4 simple steps?

  1. Measure and sift: Pour 1-2 g of matcha into a matchawan bowl (it is best to use a fine sieve to sift the powder and avoid lumps).
  2. Add water: Add 70-100 ml of hot, but not boiling water (70-80°C).
  3. Mix: Whisk the infusion with a bamboo chasen whisk or an electric frother, making "W" shaped movements with your hand until a thick foam is formed.
  4. Serve and enjoy: Top up the infusion with water according to your preference and enjoy a moment of relaxation!

🥛 Matcha latte and culinary inspirations

Dreaming of a creamy matcha latte? Nothing could be simpler! Prepare the essence according to the first three steps of the instructions above, and then top up the mug with frothed milk – dairy or plant-based. The natural, milky sweetness will perfectly highlight the tea notes, creating a delicious, creamy beverage. Thanks to its versatility, premium matcha will also work well as an addition to morning porridges, nutritious smoothies, or home baking, giving them a beautiful, emerald colour. 🍰

❓ FAQ – frequently asked questions about Mary Rose Matcha Premium

1. Is premium matcha different from culinary matcha?

Absolutely! Culinary matcha is characterised by a much more robust, astringent flavour, which works great in baking but might be too intense when drunk with just water. Premium class matcha is produced from higher quality leaves, which gives it a much milder and smoother profile. It is an excellent choice for a traditional infusion as well as a base for a homemade matcha latte.

2. Do I need special accessories to prepare premium matcha?

Although a traditional bamboo whisk (chasen) makes it easier to achieve a perfect, thick foam, it is not absolutely essential. You can successfully prepare premium matcha using a standard, hand-held milk frother. Just remember to always pour water at a temperature of around 70-80°C over the powder (never boiling water!).

3. Does matcha contain caffeine?

Yes. Matcha, as a powdered green tea, naturally contains caffeine. Its amount depends, among other things, on the portion used and the specific batch of the product. If you are limiting caffeine, prepare a smaller portion of the beverage.

Green tea vs matcha – how do they differ and which one is healthier?

Green tea vs matcha – how do they differ and which one is healthier?

Although at first glance both teas look similar, in reality green tea and matcha are two completely different worlds of flavour, properties and preparation methods. No wonder many people consider whether green tea and matcha are actually the same thing. Both drinks come from the same shrub, but their journey “from leaf to cup” looks completely different.
