What is matcha tea and what makes it special? 🍃
Matcha is one of the most precious types of green tea, valued for centuries in both Japan and China. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that we drink the entire powdered leaf – thus receiving all the natural goodness of the plant. At the same time, it is an infusion that energises, but unlike coffee, does not cause a sudden crash – instead it promotes a state of gentle focus and harmony. 🧘

The art of preparing matcha. How to brew it? 🍵
The traditional tea ceremony is a meditative practice based on precision, simplicity and mindfulness. It requires the use of special utensils that allow its unique flavour to come through: chawan / matchawan – a bowl in which the tea is easily “whisked”, chasen – a bamboo whisk that creates the characteristic froth, chashaku – a spoon designed for measuring the right amount of powder.
How to prepare matcha in 4 simple steps?
- Measure and sift: Place 1-2g of matcha into a bowl (preferably sifted through a fine sieve).
- Add water: Pour in 70-100ml of hot, but not boiling water (70-80°C).
- Mix: Whisk the infusion with a bamboo whisk chasen, moving your wrist in quick “W”-shaped motions.
- Serve and enjoy: Your tea is ready to drink – either on its own or with milk as a matcha latte.
Matcha is also a fantastic addition to ice cream, cakes, smoothies and porridge – a healthy and stylish choice!
